Save Happy Valley Coalition | | Campaign Update 15

The Save Happy Valley Coalition is still alive and kicking, and the valley remains (precariously) safe. We recently had our seventh National Hui, drawing up plans for the coming year.

Solid Energy have put the pegs in for their 'predator proof fence' (the first stage in the Cypress coal mine project) – so, things are heating up. This year looking like the year! Solid Energy's 2007 environmental report stated it pretty clearly: "Potential downsides for 2008: These are likely to be:

Planned development of Cypress Opencast Mine in the 2008 year, increasing the disturbed area footprint." Now is the time to get involved – stalls, public meetings, occupying, direct action are all essential in the coming months if Save Happy Valley is to be successful!
